Incredibly grateful to Samiksha Lokhande for this beautiful artwork

Yesterday I watched a mini movie on Amazon TV, Carbon: The Story of Tomorrow. It is not a recent movie and was released back in the year 2017. It is a sci-fi movie based on the effects of Global Warming and shows a world in the year 2067, where we have a scarcity of Oxygen and Water, and Carbon is the gas that is present abundantly.

The film explores the impact of carbon emissions on our planet. As a result of human activities, the pollution level has increased, adversely affecting our environment and future generations. The short film shows how the government supplies oxygen and in desperate times people are even ready to smuggle oxygen and water to survive.

I liked the concept of the film, and the idea is thought-provoking as well. They have tried to create awareness among the general public about how present human activities are endangering our planet Earth. If we do not take proper measures now, our future generation is going to suffer and it will lead to the destruction of our planet.

Do you know?
Pollution is responsible for more than 9 million deaths worldwide each year, and is the largest environmental cause of disease and premature death.

The film has received positive and mixed responses owing to various reasons, but I am not here to talk about the film. The idea and concept of the film is an eye opener and a reminder to each and every person living on Earth, and also the reason I am here.

I am an environmentally conscious person and I would like to share with you 5 things that we all can do at an individual level that will help our planet Earth and reduce Global Warming.

  1. Reduce energy consumption:
There are many ways in which we can reduce our energy consumption, for ex: turning off lights and electronics when they are not in use, using energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs, using a fan instead of air conditioning, using natural light whenever possible
  2. Use Renewable energy sources: ☀️
We have to start using renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, or hydropower to generate electricity. We can install solar panels, use biomass, buy electricity from renewable sources, invest in renewable energy companies
  3. Reduce water usage: 💧
To reduce our water usage we can: take shorter showers, fix leaks in pipes or faucets, use water-efficient appliances, not leave the tap running while brushing our teeth, collect rainwater
  4. Reduce transportation emissions: 🚌
This can be achieved by choosing to walk, bike, or use public transportation whenever possible, carpooling or sharing rides, reducing air travel, using fuel-efficient vehicles, keeping vehicles well maintained
  5. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: ♻️
These are the 3Rs of Waste minimization:
    • ®️Reduce- Reduce the amount of waste generated
    • ®️Reuse- Reuse products as much as possible before discarding them
    • ®️Recycle- Recycle materials that cannot be reused

These are a few simple actions that we all can do at an individual level and make a contribution to protect our environment. For many years, I have also been making small changes to my daily habits, and I hope you would also join me and try to make these updates in your life.

We have to remember that: Small actions can make a big difference.

Let us come together to adopt these simple yet effective measures and make a positive impact on our beloved planet.

The movie and my post both end with a quote by Mahatma Gandhi:

THE FUTURE DEPENDS ON WHAT WE DO IN THE PRESENT.

PS: As people tend to like shorter and concise articles, I have only briefly added a few measures we all can take to help save the environment.
